About

I believe that institutional religion is the single gravest threat to the survival of our civilization, and that its eradication is a moral imperative. I believe that spreading and strengthening secularism is the most important thing we can do to improve society, by stifling the most pervasive cause of and justification for social injustice and human rights abuses. I believe in the scientific method in all areas, including those not specifically science-based – namely, that we must follow the evidence, even when it is uncomfortable or non-intuitive or surprising. I believe that the only way to guarantee a better future for our children is by making decisions based on reality, not on what we wish were true. And I believe that bronze- and iron-age mores have no place in the 21st century, and that if we work on cultivating our own innate sense of human compassion and empathy instead of following ancient, arbitrary rules that absolve us of our ethical responsibilities, we may actually figure out how to be kinder to one another.
